GuZheng

Guzheng 古筝

The Guzheng is the oldest plucked musical instrument of the Chinese nation. It originated in the Qin Dynasty and was formed in the Tang Dynasty. The timbre of the Guzheng is bright, crisp, graceful and elegant, and is known as the ‘Oriental Piano’.

Learning Guzheng can cultivate temperament, enhance artistic accomplishment and sentiment, improve cultural taste, and exercise the sensitivity of brain thinking by practicing fingers.

Instructor Lin 林钟 (Tel: 90628294), born into a musical family, graduated from the Xinghai Conservatory of Music in China, and moved to Singapore in 1993. She is currently the vice president of the Singapore Qinzheng Society, a member of the Singapore Chinese Music Association, and the editorial board member of the Confucius Institute at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The tutor of the Guzheng troupe in the middle and primary schools under the ministry has very rich experience in Guzheng teaching.
